Information Collection and Use

Some email addresses may forward mail to a team of volunteers trusted by the Southold Fire Dept. to view them and answer them. Mail sent to the system is not publicly visible, but is visible to this group. By sending a mail to one of these addresses, your address may become public within this group. The WRST team may discuss the contents of your mail with other contributors in order to best answer your query.  

We request information from the user on our order form. Here a user must provide contact information (like name and shipping address) and financial information (like credit card number, expiration date). This information is used for billing purposes and to fill customer's orders. If we have trouble processing an order, this contact information is used to get in touch with the user

It is the policy of Southold Fire Department that personally identifiable data collected in the server logs will not be released by the developers who have access to it, except as follows:

  1. In response to a valid subpoena or other compulsory request from law enforcement

  2. With permission of the affected user

  3. When it is necessary for investigation of abuse complaints.

  4. Where the user has been vandalizing articles or persistently behaving in a disruptive way, data may be released to assist in the targeting of IP blocks, or to assist in the formulation of a complaint to relevant Internet Service Providers

  5. Where it is reasonably necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of the Southold Fire Department its users or the public.

Southold Fire Department policy does not permit public distribution of private information under any circumstances.  Southold Fire Dept is the sole owner of the information collected on this site. We will not sell, share, or rent this information to anyone in ways different from what is disclosed in this statement.

Notification of change

If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on our Homepage so our users are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under circumstances, if any, we disclose it. If at any point we decide to use personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time it was collected, we would notify users by way of an email. Users will have a choice as to whether or not we use their information in this different manner. We will use information in accordance with the privacy policy under which the information was collected.
