13/35 on Soundview Avenue

At 1338 on Pi Day Southold Fire Department was dispatched to a call of "smoke in the area" on Soundview Avenue near Clark Road. First arriving Chief Cochran found not only smoke but a working fire in an unoccupied residential structure. Thomas P. Grattan, Tom to all of us, is a 62 year member of Southold Fire Dept. He came up through the ranks and served as Captain of Protection from 1971 to 1972. Some of you with long memories might recall that Tom was on the Tug of War team or as being a delegate to North Fork Volunteers. SFD Team wins First Responders People's Choice Award!

Matt Dadonna, Mike Guanci, Steve Isaacs and JT McCarthy competed today in the North Fork Chili Cookoff contest held at the Greenport Harbor Brewing Company on Peconic Lane and took home the the trophy for "First Responders People's Choice Winner 2024" representing the Southold Fire Department! Vehicle Extrication Training

Monday, November 27, brought another of our highly successful monthly trainings led by J.R. Rumpler and David Surozenski. This session was devoted to familiarization with the several heavy rescue tools carried on 8-4-3, 8-4-2 and 8-4-4. Targets were a mini-bus donated by Sunrise Buses and Volvo by Helen Rosenblum.
